Things to Do Near Pigeon Forge
One of the best things about The Smoky Nest is the location — you’re about three minutes from the Parkway, so most of Pigeon Forge’s attractions are a short, flat drive away (no steep winding mountain roads). Here are our favorite things to do, with approximate distances from the cabin.
Dollywood & Splash Country
The headliner. Dollywood’s world-class roller coasters, craft demonstrations, and seasonal festivals are about 15 minutes (5.7 miles) from the cabin, with Dollywood’s Splash Country water park right next door for summer days.
Coasters & Mountain Rides
Pigeon Forge is the mountain-coaster capital. The Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster is just 1.3 miles away, with Rowdy Bear Mountain (2.8 mi), the Rocky Top Mountain Coaster, and racing-style coasters all within a few minutes. Great for an evening after dinner.
Dinner Shows
An only-in-the-Smokies experience. Dolly Parton’s Stampede (about 4 miles), Pirates Voyage (1.9 mi), Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud (3 mi), and the Comedy Barn (2 mi) all serve dinner with the show — book ahead in peak season.
Family Attractions on the Parkway
Rainy-day and kid-friendly favorites are clustered minutes away: The Track family fun center (1.8 mi), WonderWorks (3 mi), the Titanic Museum (2.9 mi), Crave Golf Club, and the Island in Pigeon Forge with its 200-foot Great Smoky Mountain Wheel and free shows.
The Great Smoky Mountains & Gatlinburg
The national park — the most-visited in the country — is about a 30-minute drive, with hiking, waterfalls, and Cades Cove wildlife loops. Just beyond it, Gatlinburg adds the SkyBridge, Anakeesta, and Ober Mountain.
